Gourock wins the Tappit Hen!

This annual competition was held at Greenacres on Friday 25th February. The competition is for clubs from a town with a working pier, and now involves Ardrossan, Dunoon, Gourock, Largs and Millport. Each club provides two teams and each team plays two games. Gourock were defending the trophy having won it on the previous three occasions. Unfortunately Largs could not raise a team for this year’s event and had to withdraw.

The morning session saw Gourock 1 take a 10-5 win from Dunoon 2 and Gourock 2 had a tight game against Ardrossan 1 and this finished peeled at 6 all.

The afternoon saw skip MacNish have a comfortable win against Millport 2 with a nice 4 in the 6th end leading to a 11-7 win. Skip Hawthorne also steered Gourock 1 to a 7-5 win against Ardrossan 2.

This gave Gourock 7 league points with 3 wins and 1 draw. The nearest club to this was Millport with 2 wins and 2 losses gaining 4 points. So the Tappit Hen comes back to roost in the Gourock trophy cabinet for another year.
